A separate sprite for the HUD inventory, which will also be used for the clothes on the ground.In-hand sprites (the tiny icon when someone is holding the item) for both hands. The laying down sprite is exactly like the front sprite. It also explains the formatting and naming of sprite files and includes a brief summary on receiving feedback. The Goonstation Spriting Guidelines explain the basic art style of Goonstation sprites further. Likewise, many sprites draw from a core set of palettes, though deviating from them is allowed.
Humans, cyborgs, and walls are in 3/4 for example, and a lot of old sprites are currently in the process of being remade into 3/4 for consistency. It primarily uses a pseudo-3D projection called three-quarters (3/4) view, so called because it's three-quarters between a frontal and top view, formally classified as top-down oblique. Goonstation puts great emphasis on a consistent, unified art style. It is possible to stray beyond the format (for example, hydroponics plants and many hairstyles are in 32x48), but these are rare. The vast majority of sprites, from humans to items to UI elements to floortiles, are images displayed inside 32x32 pixels tiles.
